Troubleshoot a Short iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch Battery Life

To begin with make sure you properly charge the battery:

For the quickest charge, connect the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to a power outlet on your wall using the USB cable that came with the device and the adapter.

Connect the device directly to a USB port on your computer (not an external keyboard) using the USB cable that came with the device. Your computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode; otherwise, the battery may drain instead of charge.

For the fastest charge while connected to a computer, remove all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse, or use an externally powered USB hub and connect the added USB devices including the iPhone or iPod touch.

If you are using a laptop or notebook, make sure it is plugged in to power and that the display is open. If the display is closed, the computer may go into standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPhone or iPod touch may not charge.

SHORT BATTERY RUN TIME

Always make sure your software is up to date. Manually back up your information before doing any updates. iTunes will automatically tell you when you have an update available for your device when it is connected.

Turn WIFI off when you are not using it. Settings>WIFI iOS devices will constantly look for networks while WIFI is on even if there are none available. This will drain your battery.

Turn Bluetooth Off when Not using it. Settings>General>Bluetooth. iOS devices will constantly look for Bluetooth networks or devices while Bluetooth is On even if there are none available. This will drain your battery.

Adjust the Display's brightness, the brighter your screen is the more power will be drained. You can adjust the brightness in two places. Settings >Brightness and Wallpaper" or in the Fast App Switching Bar by pressing the Home button twice and swiping from left to right on the Bar to display the brightness controls.
Turn Location Services Off. Settings > General > Location Services. You will not be able to use Maps while this is off but if you leave it on what happens is your device will constantly be trying to locate its position and this takes a lot of power.

If the Issue continues manually back up your information and then restore your device to factory settings. Set it up as a new device. Then optimize your settings. See if the issue continues.
